About My Secret Garden
For as long as I can remember, I have always been passionate about flowers. I have used them throughout my life to mark celebrations, large or small, happy or sad, to convey mood, sentiment and feeling.
This passion, along with a natural artistic ability and an eye for colour and detail led me to My Secret Garden. A 25 year career with Air Canada allowed me to open My Secret Garden part-time, while affording me the opportunity of visiting prestigious floral design shops, flower shows, and gardens, and to meet acclaimed designers and authors from around the world. Studying art, interior decorating and floral design at the Paula Pryke Flower School and garden design at the Chelsea Physic Garden in London, England helped me gain knowledge, experience, and insight into international styles and trends.
I consider “doing flowers” an art, like painting, sculpture, interior and fashion design. If the arrangement is my canvas, then flowers with character and shape, colour and texture, exotic foliage, fruits, grasses, pods-whatever inspires me- is my medium. If I can create something beautiful that touches someone on an emotional level and also pushes the boundaries of traditional floral design, I’ve done my job.
And whether it’s offering a simple hand-tied bouquet, planning the wedding of your dreams, or coordinating your stylized corporate gala, no detail is overlooked.
Since its launch at the Wonderful Wedding Show 2004, My Secret Garden has won the Best Single Booth Award for 2005 and 2008. I now offer event planning services, rentals, and in January 2008 became part of Eco Luxe Event Design Group.
